It is bad enough on some days to just have a bad hair day, but even worse for some is to have baldness or thinning hair due to hair loss. For many, it seems as if the battle against hair loss is lost, and although we have done everything we can think of to prevent it, baldness/thinning hair is inevitable. For those who feel like they are on track to becoming bald, or fighting hair loss.

There are many reasons, supported by medical studies and research, why one would lose hair. Even if you take care of your hair and have excellent hygiene, making sure not to lose protein, not all of the causes of hair loss are preventable. Baldness is a possibility for everyone, despite what you may think.

Not only men are affected by hair loss. Hormones are one of the most common causes of hair loss, and this can affect women as well as men. The main difference between male and female hair loss is the patterns. Balding in males follows a specific pattern, but in females, hair thinning or loss does not seem to follow a pattern that is specific.

Another major cause of hair loss in women is child birth. They often experience hair loss after giving birth. The best thing about this is that this type of hair loss is usually temporary. It only occurs because of the many changes the mother goes through during this period. It can occur weeks or months after pregnancy.

As a woman, taking birth control pills is considered to be one of the major hair loss causes especially those women who were programmed in their genes to have Androgenic Alopecia. That is why if you know you have someone in your family or relatives who you know are balding or already losing hair, you must consult your doctor first. On the brighter side, this condition or effect is only temporary that could stop after one to six months but in some cases, they could no longer re-grow the hair that was loss during this condition.

On top of causes previously mentioned, hair loss can also occur due to diets with nutrient deficiencies. Many vitamins and minerals, especially iron, play an important role in avoiding hair loss and keeping hair healthy and growing. Medications and cancer treatments can also explain a hair loss problem, as some illnesses, their medications as well as treatments can cause hair loss.
